Minor League Promotion Crossed The Lined!

South Atlantic League president Eric Krupa ruled Augusta GreenJackets pitching coach Steve Kline out of line two weeks ago after an incident with an umpire. As the team prepares for Kline's return from a 15-game suspension this week, Krupa said the team itself has crossed the line.

The GreenJackets announced "Free Steve Kline Night" in a statement released Thursday.

The promotion was to be held at Lake Olmstead Stadium on the game before Kline's return, more than two weeks after he was ejected by home plate umpire Carlos Torres and later made contact with the umpire, resulting in a fingernail to the face that produced a small cut just below Torres' eye.
The newly announced promotion planned to include a bandage giveaway to the first 1,000 fans so they could put the bandages underneath their eyes to resemble the injured umpire.
