Sports teams are playing a lot more man-to-man defense as they try to retain ticket buyers in the face of shaky consumer confidence and economic uncertainty.
In addition, the
National Football League and
National Basketball Association face possible lost games next season because of labor disputes.
Phoenix’s four major sports teams are all reaching out to season- and partial-season ticket buyers more frequently and establishing more dedicated relationships between ticket sales reps and fans.
The aim is to show ticket buyers they are valued by the teams and quell concerns about lockouts, losing seasons and economic strains.
“The one-on-one service we provide our season-ticket holders allows us to answer the many questions they may have about the organization as well as understand the economic challenges our customers are facing.
We have been more open to extend payment plans for season-ticket holders to give them more time to pay for their tickets,” said
Shaun Rachau, vice president of communications for the
Arizona Diamondbacks.
