Yankees GM from NY Earing Her Stripes!

It wasn’t exactly the way the Staten Island Yankees had hoped to kick off season No. 13.

Threatening pre-game weather to go along with a three-run Brooklyn Cyclones’ second inning that chased Yanks starter Bryan Mitchell and pretty much cemented a 5-3 Yankees loss, for sure, weren’t in the home-team script.

But the Baby Bombers have been at this business of theirs long enough now to have ironed out most of the fixable kinks in their operation, including the once-problematic lines at the all-you-can-eat concession stands

And they understand that, while losing games is not the ideal, rain at the Richmond County Bank Ballpark on the evening of a sold-out season opener falls into the more serious than wins-and-losses, “minor calamity” category.

It was that concern that kept Yankees general manager Jane Rogers running to her computer for weather updates all day long.

“I’m becoming an expert at predicting,” the always-energetic Rogers said once the game began following a half-hour delay.
